Are
you an ancestry apprentice? Do you need help with your history, the means to
fathom out your forebears, or simply to decipher your descendants? This book
could be just what you’ve been looking for; a ‘tour guide’ to navigate you through the myriad of questions that have arisen if you’ve ever considered
finding out more about your family history.
It will escort you around the what, why, where and when to discover who you really are, and how you
can find out more about the areas of research that are individual to your
ancestry. School log books, emigration records, newspaper reports, wills and
obituaries are just some of the fascinating resources which can hold the key, so
why not allow this book to help unlock your story. From birth to burial and
everything in-between, enjoy the journey as you build a picture of your past.
On the 25th February 2011, Family History for
Beginners was launched on The History Press stand at the Who Do You Think You
Are Live event at London's Olympia. The publishers created a great display, and
visitors were really enthusiastic with positive comments about my book and how
it looked.
I was also lucky enough to do two, two hour sessions in the Society of Genealogist's 'Ask the Experts' area of the show, and I'd like to thank all of those who came over to my table with their fascinating family stories and requests for genealogical help. I hope some of my advice at least enabled you to find a few more snippets of information about your ancestors.
- In February 2011, I did my first ever radio interview about my book with Sean Moncrieff of Newstalk Ireland. To say I was nervous was an understatement, but Sean kindly put me at easy. So thanks to all who listened, I hope you enjoyed it!

- Family History for Beginners at Amazon. 'A Great Help' says the reviewer.
Really like this writer's style. It's so refreshing to find someone who can cut through the technical jargon and help you navigate through the abundance of information. Genealogy is a fascinating subject but can be so frustrating when you feel like you've hit a dead end. Karen's books give you plenty of ideas to get you back on track and try other avenues.
